UMLA NEWS, July 28th, 2020. The Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan (UMLA) held a global event. Due to the fact that the pandemic COVID 19 has not ended yet and the number of people who got infected is rapidly increasing. Indonesia does not have any choice except to face the new normal era, UMLA is no exception. One of the steps taken by UMLA as an educational institution to fight against this pandemic was to build “KAMPUS TANGGUH” or “STRONG CAMPUS” in english. Another step was conducting an international webinar under the title ‘The Role of Health Workers in The Midst of Covid-19 Pandemic and New Normal Era’. Some of the outstanding lecturers from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand had been invited to be the speakers in this international webinar.
The international webinar was opened by the Rector of UMLA, Drs. H. Budi Utomo, M.Kes. and Dean of the Health Faculty, Arifal Aris, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kes. This was followed by approximately 5000 participants from various countries such as: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan and India. This webinar was carried out owing to international cooperation among UMLA, Mahsa University Malaysia, Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia, and Khon Kaen University Thailand. This collaboration was provided by UMLA International Affairs and Cooperation Office.
As it was stated before, the speakers of this webinar were very outstanding. The first speaker was Prof. Dr. Che’an Ahmad from Mahsa University Malaysia. The second one was Assoc Prof. Dr. Khanitta Nuntaboot from the Faculty of Nursing Khon Kaen University Thailand. The third one was Dimas Arya Nugraha, STr. Kes., a Physiotherapy lecturer at UMLA. The Next one was Assoc Prof. Dr. Sairah from Management and Science University Malaysia and then Dr. Qurratul Aini M.Kes., CIQaR (Master of Hospital Administration Program) from Universitas Muhamamdiyah Yogyakarta. And the last but not least Dr. Apt Endang Yuniarti SSi., M.Kes., from the Pharmacy Department of PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital.
From these six speakers with educational backgrounds of nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and hospital administration. It can be concluded that in the midst of the Pandemic and the new normal era, the role of health workers from various sciences major collaborated in terms of the management and prevention the spreading of the Covid-19.
