Lamongan, 2 Agustus 2019, Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamogan (UMLA) re-held International guess lecture with Assoc. Prof. Dr., Somjit Daenseekeaw, the dean of nursing faculty, Mahasarakham University, Thailand and the theme was about “Interprofessional Education to Empower Community and Promote Healthy Learning”. It was held in UMLA Hall at 12.30 – 14.30 WIB which was attended by 124 students of nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and midwifery.
This guess lecture focused on patient care in community comprehensively by collaborating with other scientific professions including nursing, engineering, architecture, agriculture, and informatics to provide post-stroke care to the patients at home. Each profession provides services according to their competence, e.g. nurse offers nursing care, engineer designs a safe and comfortable bed for patients and a wheelchair to ease the patients to move, architect renovates the house to ease the patients to walk from the first floor to the second floor and also to make an easy access for patients e.g. to the bathroom, agriculturalist sows beneficial plants, and IT student creates an application in which the patients can reach health care facilities and able to contact the health providers easily.
This guess lecture ran well and was able to give new insight to the students and lecturers of UMLA about patient care in community by collaborating with other scientific professions.
The students were very enthusiastic to participate in this guess lecture, moreover when the speaker offered “bath”, Thai currency, for them who asked questions or answered questions from her. Last, it was closed by giving merchandise from UMLA to the speaker and taking photographs.
